RAR hosting fundraiser to support refugees

Member of local Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR) branch Rachel Buckley is inviting community members to attend a fundraiser tomorrow to support refugees and individuals seeking asylum.

As communities prepare to celebrate Australia Day, local refugee advocates will be looking beyond the country’s borders this weekend, hosting a fundraiser in support of refugees.

Organised by the Maryborough branch of Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR), the fundraiser will take place on Saturday and feature entertainment, a garden party with afternoon tea, drinks and a raffle held at Buckley’s of Dunolly.

Traditionally held the day before Australia Day, host of this year’s event and RAR member, Rachel

Buckley said the event will showcase the “heart” of the district.

“We’ve always held this event the day before the presently recognised Australia Day,” she said.

The fundraiser takes place tomorrow, Saturday January 25 from 2 until 5 pm, at 1787 Maryborough-Dunolly Road.

For more information on the event or the local branch of RAR, contact Rachel on 0427 275 006.
