Colts Phelans will have to pull off an enormous feat to clear the 287-run barrier Maryborough built on day one.
The Owls, two in particular, made their intentions very clear on day one making 287 before being bowled all out.
Martin Dell (110*) and Mitch McClure (112) made up a bulk of the side’s total with a combined 222 run contribution and the Owls will be determined to defend this effort as Colts kick off their chase tomorrow.
Nick Henderson and Richard Clark took two wickets for Colts on day one, but it was Dayne Baker who took top wicket taking affirmations with a massive 6/29, including the five final wickets in a row.
With Colts’ bowling outfit having fulfilled their role, it’s now up to the team’s best runscorers to come up with enough runs to chip away at Maryborough’s overwhelming lead.
Runs have been hard to come by for Colts this season, currently they rank as the third lowest runscoring side in the competition, spelling trouble for this weekend.
