Clunes continued its premiership defence with great ferocity on Saturday, setting the bar very high for a struggling Beaufort this weekend.
The Crows won the toss at Clunes’ stomping ground and sent the Pies in on their own wicket.
Ash Gunn and Mitch Coppick got things rolling in the right direction with a shared 52 runs before Will Sargent claimed Beaufort’s first wicket, dismissing Gunn for 29.
Shehan Dhanapala (17) and Sam Williams (5) appeared temporarily alongside Coppick, but were both claimed before they could get the side to triple figures.
Mark Allen and Coppick partnered for 37 runs, taking the side to a total of 131 before Sargent took his second wicket with Allen (24) sent packing.
Captain Aidan Thompson and Coppick saw the Pies into the 200s before Coppick was eventually claimed by Cam McLeod with 85 runs to his name.
