A community vigil to acknowledge victims of violence against women and children will be held in Maryborough next week.
The event is part of the Central Goldfields Shire’s 16 Days of Activism program, an annual international campaign calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
The event is co-presented by the Go Goldfields Family Violence Action Group and Maryborough Rotary Club and Go Goldfields manager social inclusion Sandra Hamilton said the vigil comes as part of the organisation’s aim to eliminate family violence.
“One of the aims of Go Goldfields is to eliminate gender-based family violence from our community,” she said.
“This event will be held to acknowledge the victims of violence against women and children.
The vigil will be held at Station Domain in Maryborough from 7 to 8 pm on Monday.
