After a two-game slump, the Maryborough Men’s Blazers have returned to the winners list with a resounding 84-49 win over the Mildura Heat at home last Sunday.
The Blazers headed into the weekend off the back of their first losses of the season to Bacchus Marsh and Echuca from the previous round.
Maryborough had already defeated Mildura earlier in the season, but by just nine points, making Sunday’s 35-point win in front of a home crowd all the more satisfying.
The Blazers took a 21-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and with relative ease extended this to a 35- 19 advantage by the main break.
Both sides increased their scoring load in the second half of the game, but the Blazers won the battle comfortably, out scoring Mildura 24- 14 in the third term and 25-16 in the fourth.
This colossal scoring rate afforded five players on the Maryborough roster double-digit performances, headlined by Brady Neill and Zac Mortlock with 16 points each.
Lachlan Drummond and Darcy Bond both put up 14 points apiece, followed by Harry Butler with 13, Patrick Jenes with five and Jake Postle and Tom Hurse with three each.
