Bealiba Primary School and playgroup students have become published authors thanks to a Go Goldfields project.
Students have been working with Go Goldfields members and artists to create a book, titled Benjamin in Bealiba, filled with their drawings off the back of Bealiba’s story seat which was installed at the town hall earlier this year.
Students were presented with copies of the book which features their drawings inside and names on the front cover on Friday last week, along with a visit from the star of the book, Benjamin the bear himself.
Go Goldfields manager social inclusion Sandra Hamilton said the
book builds on the ideas behind the town’s story seat, which is one of 12 being installed around the shire, and helps promote literacy.
“The story seat and book are very much around the stories of children and their aspirations,” she said.
“We want to promote the importance of the voice of children in our community and this project does that really well.
