Local football and netball fans can officially mark Good Friday down in their diary as the first game of the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s (MCDFNL) 2020 season.
The MCDFNL has released its season fixture for next year with some exciting changes including two byes and just one optional Sunday game.
The 16-round long season will have two league byes, on June 6 (after round seven) and July 4 (after round 10).
The first game of the year will be played as a stand alone contest between Maldon and Newstead on Good Friday, April 10.
The Bombers’ stomping ground is used to this Easter opener, while it will be the first time on display for the Kangaroos, who take over from Harcourt.
Round one will kick off for all other teams the following weekend, with the official season launch to be held on Friday night, headlined by a Maryborough derby clash.
Maryborough Rovers and Royal Park will play off under lights on April 17 at Princes Park to officially kick off the season.
In round one, on Saturday, April 18 Natte Bealiba will start its premiership defence early on with Carisbrook storming the Natte Yallock Recreation Reserve with fresh battle wounds after their 2019 grand final defeat.
