The Advertiser takes out VCPA awards

The Advertiserʼs Natalie Woods accepts the award for best print ad last month.

The Maryborough District Advertiser has taken home a swag of accolades for its advertising and photos from the Victorian Country Press Association’s (VCPA) annual conference and awards ceremony.

Held last month, the VCPA — representative body for regional newspapers throughout the state — awards sees outstanding editorial, photographs and advertising works submitted by local papers from around Victoria.

While The Advertiser ’s advertising, and editorial, departments took home a number of commended awards for their work, the biggest success was by far the paper’s win for best print ad.

Judged by Darren Robinson, the ad promoted local business FitterFaster.

“This is a brilliant representation of a well thought out ad,” he said.

“The headline instantly targets the prospect and is perfectly positioned at the top of the image, which also helps to cut-through.

“The ad is strengthened with compelling body copy and an effective call-to-action driven by emotion.

“Sufficient contact details are clearly listed at the base of the ad to bring it all together. If I was their ideal customer, I would easily be drawn into this ad. A terrific example of the basic elements done very well.”

Mr Robinson also commended The Advertiser’s second entry in the same category.
