Man on suspended licence crashes car and flees scene

A 48-year-old manʼs car became wedged on a fence post earlier this week after drifting off Majorca Road and striking a fence.

Police will be charging a man with driving offences after he crashed his car into a fence while drink driving on a suspended licence earlier this week.

The incident occurred between 6 and 6.30 pm on Majorca Road on Tuesday when the 48-year-old’s Subaru Outback left the road and drifted into a fence before becoming wedged on a fence post.

Maryborough Police Sergeant Gary Walter said police, ambulance and CFA crews were called to the incident but were cancelled after police discovered the driver had left the scene.

“The vehicle’s driver, who was the only occupant, wasn’t at the scene when police arrived, he was given a lift by a passerby but police later caught up with him and identified and interviewed him,” he said.
