Dunolly trumps Talbot in battle of the golds

Talbot Goldʼs Rob Jackson releases a shot during round six of Saturday pennant bowls at the weekend.

In the closest division one game of the round, Dunolly Gold got the jump on Talbot Gold by just five shots in round six of Saturday pennant bowls.

Dunolly conceded its first two rinks of the day with skippers Peter Fletcher and Paul Radstock both winning for Talbot by two shots apiece.

Terry Long over came the deficit — and then some with a 33-24 win over Peter McLoughlin on the final rink.

The win was largely unexpected with third placed Talbot outranking fourth placed Dunolly on the ladder by a massive 27 premiership points.

The other premier division games from the weekend were a blow out with Dunolly Blue and Highland Tartan both collecting big wins.

Tartan was the biggest victor of the pair with a winning score of 106- 61 over Golf Blue.

Highland skippers Gary Coburn, Greg Shay and Brian Daly accounted for the triple figure score with rink wins.
