The Maryborough Golf and Bowls Club honoured one of their most dedicated members last month, inducting David Pearce as a life member.
Mr Pearce was granted life membership status at the club’s AGM after more than 30 years of service.
He said it was an “honour” to be recognised for his three decades-long dedication to the club.
“It is an honour and I feel like I’ve earned my life membership,” he said.
“The biggest thrill was after the meeting when everyone came up to shake my hand. To think it meant something to others as well was a great feeling.
“You don’t do these things to get rewarded for them, you do it because you enjoy it.”
As a Clunes native, Mr Pearce also holds a life membership at the Clunes Cricket Club as a five-time premiership player and two-time premiership captain, but he admits the sport of lawn bowls is close to his heart.
Originally joining the Maryborough club as a golfer, Mr Pearce moved on to bowls where he found his sporting passion, claiming seven singles titles and still reigns as the current Men’s Single Champion.
He also put in the hard yards off of the green, with 22 years in the role of bowls secretary.
