The Pyrenees Shire’s Ercildoune Ward councillor David Clark has celebrated two decades serving the community he loves.
Cr Clark operates a mixed farming property at Glenbrae with his wife and three children and has been with council since 1992.
As an active community member, Cr Clark said first signing up to be a councillor was the obvious step.
“I’d been doing a lot of landcare work and I was involved in a lot of community things so it was a bit of a logical extension on what I was already doing,” he said.
“For me it’s primarily about understanding what the community is about and having a long term plan.
“The strategy side of things is really important when you don’t have a lot of money to work with which you don’t have when you’re a small council.
“Spending money in the right places is a pretty critical part of the game and that’s been one of the things I’ve tried to do well, I do like those long term plans.”
