Maryborough residents can play a vital biosecurity role in their backyards this spring by helping to control Queensland Fruit Fly.
Agriculture Victoria identified the pest in Maryborough earlier this year.
While the pest has been identified for some years in a range of other locations — including Bendigo — it is a relatively new pest to Maryborough.
Agriculture Victoria is holding two community talks this month to raise awareness and help residents take action on Wednesday, November 6 at 7.30 pm at the Maryborough Garden Club AGM at RSL Hall, and on Thursday, November 14 at 11.15 am at the Maryborough Street Harvest.
Fruit Fly Action Plan senior project officer Jane Ryan said both talks will give gardeners the critical information they need to help deal with Queensland Fruit Fly and a chance to ask any burning questions.
