Community members will have the chance to get up close and personal with firefighting equipment and discuss fire preparation with members at Bowenvale Fire Brigade’s open day this weekend.
The third time the brigade has held an open day, this weekend will see community members getting to know their local fireys while also discussing fire preparations as the weather warms up.
Bownevale Fire Brigade Captain Allan Monk said the brigade is hoping to see a few people pass through, with their open day last year attracting only five people.
“We’re having the open day to get fire brigade exposure and to show the community that we’re actually
here because generally people drive past and see the doors shut,” he said.
“Members of the community will be able to meet us and see what it is that we do at the brigade. If anyone is interested, we’re always looking for more volunteers as well.”
The open day runs this Sunday, November 17 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Bowenvale Fire Station, 558 Timor Road, Bowenvale.
