Winning the Ballarat District Golf Incorporated’s (BDGI) 2019 men’s District Medalist of the Year title is a big feat for any golfer, but it is a particularly impressive one for 14-year-old Manish Puvanendran.
Locally, Manish has seen golfing success in men’s divisions before, but to rise above adult monthly medalists from Ballarat and surrounds last month was a massive win for the Maryborough teen.
The title was played between 26 of the region’s best golfers on October 13 at the Ballarat Golf Club and Manish won the men’s with a score of 71 nett, one under par for that course, ahead of his closest challenger, Scott Burns on 73 nett.
Manish said he felt that all of his “hard work” had paid off with the win and that it was great to get to play with some of the district’s best.
“I felt proud that I had accomplished it and all my hard work had paid off,” he said.
