Some of Australiaʼs best comedians will grace the Avoca Shire Turf Club this Sunday for Grapes of Mirth.

The Avoca region will be packed with punters and comedy goers this weekend for the Blue Pyrenees Estate Avoca Cup and for the first time, comedy event Grapes of Mirth.

Bringing together wines and local producers from across the Pyrenees as well as some of Australia’s best comedians, Grapes of Mirth is headed to the Avoca Shire Turf Club this Sunday, October 20.

Host Merrick Watts will be joined on stage by the likes of Dave Hughes, Geraldine Hickey (Winner of ‘Piece of Wood Award’ at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2019), Nazeem Hussain (Orange is The New Brown), Danielle Walker (Winner of ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2018) and Nath Valvo (Winner of ‘Best Comedy Award’ at Adelaide Fringe Weekly Awards 2018).

Attendees will be treated to six hours of non-stop entertainment, quality Pyrenees wines, and local gourmet grub and Pyrenees Grape Growers and Winemakers Association president Robert Haywood said it’s a great opportunity to bring new tourists to the region.

“We’ve got 10 wineries which will be showcased at the event, they will be offering up all their best drops,” he said.

“Over 500 people are expected to turn out for the event and it’s a great opportunity to be able to put this region in the spotlight. Attendees can hear from some of Australia’s best comedians while drinking some of the nation’s best wine.
