Bowls season is here again and the Goldfields Bowls Division (GBD) has healthy competition for the 2019/20 Saturday pennant season, with 18 teams across three divisions vying for the ultimate prize.
Division one, two and three again feature six sides each, with a few sides moving both up and down grades to keep competitive.
After finishing on the bottom of the division one ladder last season, Newstead has moved down to division two, replaced by last season’s seconds premiers, Dunolly Gold.
The move up for the Gold team will see both Dunolly teams meet in round three, after all three Dunolly teams were separated over multiple grades for the last two seasons.
All three Dunolly sides made their respective grand finals last season and came out successful in two, continuing Dunolly’s strong bowling legacy.
Spectators won’t have to wait long to witness the division one grand final sides from last season go head- to-head with victors Dunolly Blue and Highland Tartan meeting in round two next weekend in what is sure to be a very entertaining clash.
