Rotary movie night raising funds for polio campaign

Maryborough Rotary Club president Leigh Williamson and Country Trendʼs Robyn Jennings are urging community members to come along to Rotaryʼs fundraising event on Tuesday.

October marks End Polio Month for Rotary, and while the organisation has helped to reduce polio cases by 99.9 percent internationally, a local fundraiser next week is set to further support the cause.

As part of Rotary’s Polio Plus campaign, the Maryborough Rotary Club is hosting a special viewing next Tuesday of Ride Like a Girl, the inspiring story of Michelle Payne, the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup.

Rotary Club president Leigh Williamson said the fundraiser will make for a fun social event.

“We’re having drinks and canapés at the theatre from 6 pm before the movie starts at 6.45, it should be a lot of fun,” he said.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $20, with money raised going towards Rotary International’s Polio Plus campaign.

Tickets can be purchased at the Maryborough Paramount Theatre, from Country Trends or by contacting Leigh on 0419 585 603.
