The search for Maryborough Football Netball Club’s senior football coach has come to an end with Justin Abrams joining the nest for the next two seasons.
Appointed earlier this month, Abrams has a wealth of experience in the football world having coached at local, TAC Cup and VFL level and working as the regional operations manager for the Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) in the past.
Heading in off the back of five years with the Dunnstown Football Netball Club, Abrams said he’s “quite excited” to take on the role.
“I had a few approaches from the club, they were quite persistent with a number of phone calls. When I came up for a meeting, it was pretty much locked in from there,” he said.
“I think Maryborough is in a really good position right now. They’ve been building for a while, they’ve had their best season in a long time this year and I just think they’re at a point where I can develop them.
“There’s a lot of upsides to this group that are still to come and that makes me quite excited to take on the role.”
Abrams steps on board after Maryborough’s most successful season in recent history, with the side having claimed a total of six wins this year, the most it has seen since 2011.
