A new key sponsor for Maryborough’s Energy Breakthrough has been announced just four weeks out from this year ’s event.
Announced earlier this week, Australian toll road company Transurban, one of the largest toll road companies world-wide and owner and operator of CityLink in Melbourne has partnered with the Energy Breakthrough as a key sponsor for an initial 12 month period.
Joining Regional Roads Victoria and La Trobe University as the event’s third key sponsor, the announcement comes after RACV, the Energy Breakthrough’s major sponsor for 26 years, altered its sponsorship agreement and withdrew its support from the event last year.
Announced on Monday, just a few weeks out from the event, Central Goldfields Shire CEO Lucy Roffey said she’s not concerned the new partnership is for an initial 12 months.
“It wouldn’t be unusual for a sponsor to try out for the first year to see what it’s like for them and if it’s successful, we’d expect for them to extend the contract,” she said.
“Sponsors really want to see a link between their values and our values which gives us a great opportunity because Energy Breakthrough has so many fantastic links to things like youth, education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), innovation and sustainability that we believe there’s a lot of opportunity for agreements going forward.”
