Avoca is still on the hunt for its first win of the season, but it will be hard pressed to find it against Maryborough this weekend.
Coming up against Clunes in round one was a tough task for the Bulldogs, but to come within 10 runs of the reigning two-day premiers was a massive statement.
The shock came the following week when Avoca lost to fellow A grade newbies Beaufort in a big way, with 83 runs the difference.
To then fall victim to MKM at the weekend, albeit with a very altered list, has left the side desperate to
claim victory this Saturday. Unfortunately for the Dogs, Maryborough will be raring to go off the back of a 40-run loss to Laanecoorie Dunolly.
Maryborough was solid with the ball in hand on Saturday, limiting Laane to a modest 155 runs, 79 runs less than its score from the week before, and taking eight wickets, three more than any other side so far this season.
