Central Goldfields Shire Council’s Community Grants Program is now open and a new application process under the Community Support Policy is set to make it easier for groups to apply.
Offering funds to support local community based organisations for projects and events that provide community benefit to the shire, $20,000 is available in the 2019- 2020 Community Grants program.
Endorsed by council at its September ordinary meeting, the Community Support Policy highlights three areas in which support can be applied for, including community grants, in kind support and planning and building fee waivers.
During the meeting, administrator Hugh Delahunty said the policy is a culmination of the community grants program and what was known as the in kind support and fee waivers.
“For a long period of time council has provided support to a variety of community organisations to support the work that they do in the community,” he said.
“We’ve been through a process where we’ve endorsed the draft of this policy in June and we’ve taken on feedback following consultation.
“This policy now incorporates three previous grants programs and provides appropriate application forms to provide more detail and more guidance to our community groups.”
Applications for the community grants close Friday, October 25, 2019.
The Community Support Policy is available in hard copy from council’s Customer Service Centre located at 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough.
