Clunes claims round two win

Clunesʼ Brenton Jones is stumped by an eagle-eyed MKM keeper, Liam Radlof after walking out of his crease. The Pies went on to topple the Mill with relative ease.

Clunes went two from two on Saturday with a five-wicket win over MKM at the Mill.

Winning the toss, MKM elected to bat first on its home deck, sending captain Liam Radlof and Leith Hunter out first to face Clunes.

A 27-run partnership eventuated before Hunter (8) was claimed LBW by Brendan Robinson.

Radlof and brother Joel saw the side to a score of 78 before Mark Jenkin dismissed Liam (39) LBW.

Chris Freeman stood alongside Joel as he racked up a half century, including 10 fours and one six, before Freeman (5) was dismissed by Ash Gunn.

Joel (69*) and Mitch Whelan (3*) exhausted the side’s remaining overs to see MKM sit at 3/141.

Clunes was likely not expecting that firepower from MKM, especially with a few players including its captain Aaron Westbrook out.

As always, Jenkins and Allen got the ball rolling for Clunes in the reply before Joel Radlof continued his push for MKM, dismissing Allen for 17.

Brenton Jones was next up and saw a 21-run partnership with Jenkin (17) before he was claimed by the bowling of Joel Radlof.

Shehan Dhanapala was up next for the Magpies, but had to retire hurt after putting up 10 runs, leaving Jones to continue on with Fred Penhall.
