Maryborough Football Netball Club’s youngest netballers and footballers have carried the Magpies to their only grand finals berth this season.
Maryborough’s under 12 footballers and their inaugural 15 and under netballers have fought their way to the biggest game on the calendar.
Under 15 netball manager Alisha Chadwick said the netball team, which got off the ground this year, has had a great first season.
“It’s very exciting for us,” she said.
“There is about seven grading rounds which then placed them in the second highest division.
“We’ve promoted the team as a 15 and under team but they’re actually in an 18 and under division so that was really impressive.”
Despite all being at the bottom age in the competition, Maryborough finished in second place on the ladder after a six-win three-loss season.
“The ones that they have lost, they’ve all been fairly close games anyway,” Chadwick said.
Maryborough will play the Jetts tonight at 8.15 pm in Flora Hill while the under 12 footballers will take on Quarry Hill this Saturday at Harry Trott Oval in Bendigo from 12.20 pm.
The Maryborough under 14s also made it to finals, but narrowly dropped out in preliminary finals last weekend.
