Natte overthrows Carisbrook in four-point grand final thriller

Natte Bealibaʼs senior footballers have smothered Carisbrookʼs dreams of a third consecutive premiership victory, taking out the 2019 MCDFNL grand final on Saturday by the skin of their teeth.

Nothing could’ve made Saturday’s grand final success any sweeter for Natte Bealiba than to dethrone Carisbrook in an absolute thriller.

The Swans have risen from the ashes of last year’s shocking grand final defeat, knocking off the former reigning premiers in true underdog fashion.

Saturday’s grand final tousle was a far cry from the year before with victory for either side always just one good kick away.

Best on ground medal winner Josh Grant and AFL Victoria Country medal winner Jye Mortlock performed well for Natte.

Natte hit the board first, with Trent Mortlock making up for a behind with the first major of the day.

Carisbrook co-coach Jackson Bowen was quick to reply with Brook’s first.

Two missed opportunities to goal from Natte did nothing to protect the side from back-to-back Redback snags which saw Brook tighten the strap.

Birthday boy Will Collicoat slotted his first of three for the day shortly thereafter, bringing the Swans back into contention and narrowing the gap to just three points.
