As the 2019-20 Country Basketball League (CBL) season draws near, the Maryborough Lady Blazers are primed and ready with a new coach on board.

Grace Bibby, who donned the Blazers’ jersey herself last season, has taken up the role as the club’s women’s coach for the upcoming fixture.

A large part of Bibby’s basketball history comes from her home town of Stawell and current place of residence, Ballarat.

“I’ve had a little bit of experience coaching, I’ve previously worked in juniors and Maryborough has a lot of young, vibrant talent coming through so I think I’ll be a pretty good match,” she said at the squad’s first training session last Tuesday.

“I have also coached at CBL level before with Stawell. Work is hectic through the winter so CBL summer suits me perfectly.

“After playing in Maryborough last season I’ve seen there is a lot of young players with talent in the area. There is a lot of potential and that is exciting considering that we made finals last season.

“I love the CBL and everything that it stands for, it’s community basketball at its best.”
