Under 11s battle it out in history making grand final while Avoca claims B grade

2019 B grade premiers, Avoca.

For the first time ever, seven Maryborough Castlemaine District FNL netball grand finals were played with the competition’s newest additions making history and setting the tone for an enthralling day at the court.

The first ever 11 and under grand final was contested by Royal Park and Lexton and despite an early starting time of 7.45 am, a massive crowd gathered to cheer on the league’s smallest netballers in the history-making clash.

Bushy continued their undefeated run from the home and away season and were victorious 12-1 over a very hard working Lexton team.

Bridget Allan of Park was awarded best on court for great feeding into the ring and very disciplined running in the centre.

Following on, the 13 and under grand final was a tough wrestle between the grade’s strongest two sides, Carisbrook and Maryborough Rovers.

The Magpies took an early first quarter lead over the Redbacks and were able to build on that through the remainder of the game to win 37- 22.

Carisbrook battled very hard in a great contest and made Rovers work for every single possession.

Zali Linton (Rovers) was named best on court for her very impressive goaling.

Natte Bealiba and Carisbrook next contested the 15 and under grand final, with the Redbacks taking a confident 28-19 win.
