This weekend’s most prized game will unfold between premiership favourites Avoca and Carisbrook.
Avoca is the only side to have beaten Carisbrook this season, with a very close two-goal win in round one.
This win and the 10-goal defeat of reigning premiers Trentham the following round, which broke a 39- game winning streak for the Saints, was monumental for the Bulldogs and cemented their new-found reputation within the competition.
After dropping out of semi finals last season, the Dogs recruited two star players in Mikayla Fraser and Jess Hollett during the off season, putting the finishing touches on an already formidable squad and giving the side the extra push it needed to keep up with the best of the best.
It is of note that Hollett, who is regularly named in the best for the Bulldogs, was not present in defence during round one, making Carisbrook’s task under goals even more difficult this time around.
While the Redbacks had one or two changes in their roster for this season, they were intent on maintaining a majority of their 2018 grand finalist side for a second crack this year.
