Trentham claimed its eighth consecutive victory at the weekend, defeating Newstead and further cementing its stranglehold on second place on the ladder.
Trentham reached a 14-point lead in the first quarter and was able to sustain the challenge that Newstead put up in a hard fought contest.
The two sides were neck and neck in the second term, with both adding minor scores to the board to see Trentham lead by just 11 points at the main break.
The Saints were able to increase the margin by the end of the third quarter, kicking three goals and four behinds, but the Steaders put up two goals and a behind of their own.
However, after a relatively even contest, Trentham was finally able to break away in the final term to win the contest by 32 points.
