Pies hoping for round eight repeat

Coby Perry handpasses under pressure during Maryboroughʼs game with Kyneton last weekend. The Pies will now take on Kangaroo Flat in their last home game of the season.

Maryborough will fight to return to the winners list this weekend in its final home game of 2019.

This Saturday’s clash with Kangaroo Flat provides the last opportunity for Borough to lay claim to their home ground and belt out the club song in favoured Princes Park surrounds for the year.

The weekend also provides likely the last chance for Maryborough to claim a win as it is set to come up against the league’s guaranteed minor premiers in the final home and away round.

Should the Pies come out in front over the Roos like they did earlier in the season, they will also have notched up their biggest amount of wins in a season since 2011.

Meeting with Flat back in round eight, the Pies enjoyed a 30-point win after a close tussle in the first half.

Maryborough led by just eight points at half time but was able to extend that lead out to 43 points by three quarter time after a five-goal surge in the once dreaded third quarter.
