Newstead has seen itself into finals with a big win over Dunolly coupled with its biggest competitor, Avoca dropping the ball at the weekend.
The Kangaroos will be elated to make finals, with the appearance serving as concrete proof of their improvement this season after a 12th place finish last year.
The Roos did their bit in their finals journey on Saturday, leading Dunolly by six goals at the end of the first term.
Stead worked hard in the second to continue its roll, slotting 4.3 (27) while the Eagles celebrated their second goal of the game.
A 56-point lead at half time wasn’t satisfying enough for Newstead, with its best scoring quarter still yet to come.
The Kangaroos almost doubled their score in the third, kicking 8.3 (51) to Dunolly’s 2.1 (13) to lead by a massive 94 points at the final break.
Dunolly slotted its last goal for the year in the fourth, but this paled in comparison to Newstead’s 4.7 which awarded the visitors a 119- point win.
