Two league netball legends celebrated major career milestones at the weekend, with Avoca FNC’s Colleen Drummond playing her 450th career game for the Bulldogs and Carisbrook FNC’s Sherriden Byrne playing her 350th A grade game.
Both Byrne and Drummond celebrated their respective mile- stones with wins in the final home and away round of season 2019.
Byrne was pivotal in defence for the Redbacks in a 21-goal win over fellow top four side, Harcourt last Saturday in front of a home crowd.
Carisbrook now heads confidently into finals after finishing the season with a 13-2 win-loss ratio and looks a massive chance to make the grand final for the second year in a row.
Another chance at a flag is heavily sought after by the Redbacks as it’s been 20 years since the club’s last A grade premiership, of which Byrne was a part of.
This win in the late 1990s, Byrne said, is definitely a career highlight.
“Obviously the premiership in 1999 was my biggest highlight, but getting selected for interleague and representing Maryborough was also a big thing,” she said.
