The ultimate tie breaker will unfold this weekend when Maryborough meets Kyneton for the second time this season.
When the pair met back in round seven, a blow-for-blow battle unfolded with neither side coming out on top.
A 50-all draw was reached by full time in a courageous effort from two similarly ranked sides.
During that match, the Pies dropped a four-goal lead in the second quarter to sit one-goal in arrears at half time.
Borough regained the lead in the third, but a hard-hitting final quarter from the Tigers saw scores level as the timer ran out.
Maryborough currently sits just one place below Kyneton on the ladder with the exact same amount of wins and losses and after a tough season, neither side is likely to place in time for finals.
This weekend would however be a confidence boosting win as the competition draws to a close and help either side regroup ahead of next season.
