After a solid fight against Golden Square last round, Maryborough will be looking to display that same spirit against a higher ranked Gisborne this weekend.
While the Magpies lucked out by 55 points to Square on Saturday, they sat just 24 points behind at three-quarter time and displayed their clear improvement from the earlier rounds in the season by bettering their first meeting with the Bulldogs by 57 points.
Although a win is not expected of Maryborough this weekend, there is pressure to put on a better performance against Gisborne than it did back in round six.
The 24.16 (160) to 7.6 (48) defeat is still one of the biggest losses dealt to the Pies this season and the side will be eager to escape a similar result this weekend.
Maryborough’s current roster is altered from round six, which may offer the Pies a bit of difference on- field this time around.
