Sleeping Stars bring Shakespeare to life

Sleeping Stars performers Alyssa Prime, Charlotte McAdam and Lilly Olver practice their roles in a dress rehearsal of A Kidsummer Nightʼs Dream.

Maryborough Theatre Company’s junior performing group, Sleeping Stars, are bringing a well-loved Shakespeare play to life in a unique way this week.

The group will be performing A Kidsummer Night’s Dream, an adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most famous comedies, A  Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The performance has around 30 cast members aged between seven and 15 and director and Sleeping Stars founder Joyce Sedunary said everyone has been working hard to perfect the play.

“The children all auditioned for their roles and have been rehearsing consistently since April this year,” she said.

“They have quickly formed firm bonds with each other and are very much a close-knit theatrical family now.”

Performances will be held at Maryborough Education Centre’s Performing Arts Centre at 7 pm on July 26 and July 27 at 2 pm.

Tickets can be purchased via the Sleeping Star Facebook Page or at www.trybooking. com/BCVXV.
