Meals on Wheels volunteers to benefit from new equipment

Commonwealth Bank Maryborough branch manager Stephen Walhouse (centre) presents a $500 donation for Meals on Wheels to Central Goldfields Shireʼs Martin Collins and Tracey Saunders.

Maryborough Meals on Wheels volunteers will soon be kitted out with new eskies thanks to a $500 donation.

Maryborough’s Commonwealth Bank branch presented Meals on Wheels with a cheque earlier this month to aid the service’s volunteers, who deliver around 400 meals to local residents per week.

Central Goldfields Shire aged and disability services coordinator Tracey Saunders said the funding was a welcome surprise.

“It was unexpected, the bank called and said they’d like to nominate us to receive the funding,” she said.

“We’re always excited to receive any additional funds that help us with the program.”
