Avoca Football Netball Club’s Stacey Blair will notch her 450th game for the club this weekend and despite a career spanning more than three decades, she doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
With eight premierships, eight club best and fairest awards, three league best and fairest awards and multiple life memberships under her bib, Blair said her longevity boils down to “luck”.
“I’m pretty happy to get to 450 and I’ve been pretty lucky with no injuries to be able to get there,” she said.
“The premierships are absolutely something you remember forever. Especially those close ones where you just get over the line.
“Becoming a life member of the league and the club is a pretty special thing for me too. You never expect anything like that.
“You can’t beat the friendships you make along the way and the teams you get to be part of. I really love the team aspect of the game.”
Blair first pulled on the Avoca dress for the under 14s and her junior netball career accounts for just 72 of her club games, with over 350 of the remaining total coming from A grade matches.
