The Central Goldfields and Pyrenees shires are set to share in $4.5 million worth of State Government funding to improve the quality, effectiveness and affordability of services to their ratepayers.
The shires were announced as two of six local councils, including Hepburn and Ballarat, to successfully obtain funding from the government’s $20 million Rural Councils Transformation Program.
Central Goldfields Shire CEO Lucy Roffey said the grant will be used to deliver a regionally shared IT platform.
“We will have a shared IT platform to support finance, payroll, records, safety, fleet management, building, environmental health, planning, waste and community services with Ballarat, Ararat, Golden Plains, Hepburn and Pyrenees shires,” she said.
