The 2019-2020 Central Goldfields Shire Proposed Budget, which includes an almost $10 million capital works program, has been adopted.
After being put out for public consultation in April, receiving two submissions, the proposed budget was adopted by Central Goldfields Shire administrators at the June ordinary council meeting.
The budget includes one of the shire’s largest capital works programs of $9.88 million, supported by $4.8 million in grant funding, as well as a 2.5 percent rate rise in line with the State Government’s Fair Go rate cap system.
Highlights of the capital works program are a $2.18 million roads upgrade program, a $430,000 upgrade of the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre, $600,000 for Carisbrook flood mitigation works, the Gordon Gardens plan and $35,000 for new footpaths in Maryborough, Carisbrook, Dunolly and Bealiba.
