The Central Goldfields Shire Council endorsed the Loddon Campaspe Economic Growth Strategy at last month’s ordinary council meeting.
Moved by administrator Karen Douglas who labelled the strategy as an “interesting document”, the strategy provides an overview of the entire Loddon Campaspe region and has been developed to assist in joined-up regional advocacy and action to attract investment and growth in the region.
Jointly prepared by the Loddon Mallee Regional Development Australia Committee and the Loddon Campaspe Regional Partnership, the strategy encompasses the six neighbouring municipalities of Greater Bendigo, Loddon Campaspe, Mount Alexander, Central Goldfields and Mount Macedon.
The strategy will be delivered in three stages and although in its current form it doesn’t make much specific reference to the Central Goldfields Shire, chief administrator Noel Harvey said he expects more specific reference to the shire will be included in the next phase of the strategy.
“We received this document some months ago and we certainly expressed very firmly our concern about some of the deficiencies of the document,” he said.
