Some relief for Lexton and Royal Park was the highlight of round six, with both sides finally claiming their first wins of the season.
Lexton took to the Princes Park court with determination and after four painful losses, toppled Mary- borough Rovers by just three goals.
The Pies trailed at quarter time by one goal, but more than made up for this in the second taking a 30-24 lead into the major break.
The Tigers turned the tables with a position shuffle and the introduction of Rachel Phelan into goal attack allowed the side to regain the six-goal deficit to draw scores at three-quarter time.
Phelan again made the difference in the final term, and Lexton was able to outscore Rovers 8-11 to take a 49-52 win, its first of the year.
Phelan’s two-quarter impact awarded her votes alongside Heather Tweddle and defender Lauren Anderson.
For Rovers, Julie Anderson claimed best on court rights against her former side and the team’s youngest members, Abbey Raven and Charlotte Cain, were also praised.
Like Lexton, Royal Park also claimed its first win of the year, but enjoyed a much bigger winning margin over Navarre.
Park was dominant from the outset, leading Navarre by 10 goals at quarter time and extending that to 17 goals by the halftime whistle.
The Hoppers had their best scoring quarter in the third, shooting 11, but Park shot 13 in the same time leaving scores at 26-45 with one quarter to go.
