Natte ruins Carisbrook’s winning streak

Trent Mortlock of Natte Bealiba gets a kick away under pressure during Saturdayʼs grand final rematch with Carisbrook.

It was an exciting contest at the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve on Saturday that saw Natte Bealiba stage a come from behind victory over the previously undefeated reigning back-to-back premiers Carisbrook.

Both teams are now level on points but the Redbacks still hold onto top position with a healthier percentage.

The Redbacks went into the game minus key players Nick Wright and Liam Cunningham, but it is unknown if their presence would have changed the final result.

Jye Mortlock was outstanding for the Swans as was Zac East and the pair combined when just two minutes into proceedings, East zig zagged his way through the Carisbrook defence to handball to Mortlock for the opening goal of the game.

It was goal for goal for the remainder of the term and Ash Munari’s shot on goal at the siren was wide of the mark, but the resulting behind still gave the Redbacks the lead at the first change.
