Central Goldfields Shire farmers will benefit from a local forum to be held in Maryborough by Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) this month.
Maryborough is one of three Victorian towns set to host one of the GRDC’s local forums, which will provide grain growers and industry stakeholders with the opportunity to discuss grains research, development and extension (RD&E) investments and activities.
GRDC grower relations manager — south, Courtney Ramsey said the forums are held in different locations each year to provide greater accessibility to growers across the southern region.
“Maryborough was identified as a location for a GRDC local forum in 2019 in collaboration with local growers and advisers,” she said.
“A forum like this enables GRDC to engage directly with local growers and grains industry stakeholders.
“We get to hear about and better understand the important cropping constraints and opportunities impacting grain production businesses in the local area and can capture firsthand their ideas for grains RD&E that have the potential to deliver the greatest impact in the district.
The forum will be held on June 28 from 9 am to 12.30 pm at the Maryborough Highland Society.
