Magpies prepare to step up for round eight

Keely Hare shoots at goal during last weekendʼs clash with Kyneton.

After the weekend’s unsatisfying drawn result against Kyneton, Maryborough will head to Kangaroo Flat deter- mined to push themselves against a top four side.

The Pies knew heading into the weekend that Kyneton were an evenly matched competitor, but a 50-all draw displays just how tight the game was.

This weekend’s competitor, Kangaroo Flat, is ranked in A grade’s top four with four wins already and will be a tough challenge for the Pies.

The best yard stick for Maryborough ahead of the weekend lays in Flat’s result against Kyneton in round four.

The Kangaroos were a force last season, but more recently went down to a fifth-ranked Kyneton by just nine goals, leaving the Pies optimistic heading in.

Though key defender Maggie Tranter is again expected as an ommission for the side this weekend, Bella Westbrook, Eliza Roughead and Chloe Egan are more than capable of filling the gap.
