Highview took on the Independent Country Co-Educational Schools (ICCES) athletics in leaps and bounds, bringing home 12 ribbons for the trophy cabinet.
Highview competed alongside seven other independent schools last month at Albert Park in Melbourne.
The ICCES program provides sometimes isolated private schools with the opportunity to compete against a larger and competitive pool of athletes.
Year eight student Tom Myers was highly competitive for Highview, snagging a third place in javelin, second places in the 400, 200 and 100 metre sprint and taking out the triple jump for his year level.
Myers’ performance backed up a solid showing in 2018 which will see him head to America for athletics at the end of June.
He said he is “excited” to head over to America, just like his siblings did.
“My brother and sister did the same thing so we just asked them to look at my results from last year and my results were pretty good so they picked me to go,” he said.
