Comedy for a cause coming to the Highland

Director Gerard Dwyer (centre) along with cast members Cameron McDowell and Kathy Whitfield are set to have audience members enjoying some lighthearted humour this Saturday night.

Community members are set to be in fits of laughter this weekend when a two-for-one comedy night kicks off at the Highland Society, and all for a good cause.

The comedy night double show features productions of Hoosier Daddy and Hollywood meets Bollywood, which director Gerard Dwyer said will make for an entertaining and lighthearted night, with funds going to those experiencing mental health issues and living with disability.

“They’re both tremendous productions,” he said.

Hoosier Daddy is an award winning production and Hollywood meets Bollywood has proven to be very popular in the past at comedy festivals.

“The money we raise goes to those experiencing poor mental health and we’re hoping some of the funds raised will go towards an asperger’s centre being created here in Maryborough.”

Mr Dwyer said he works with Wellways, a not-for-profit mental health and disability support organisation which provides services to thousands of people each year.

The comedy night is this Saturday, June 15 from 8 pm at the Maryborough Highland Society. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased by calling 5461-1480.
