With thousands of people expected in Clunes this weekend for its annual Booktown Festival, V/Line has announced a host of extra services to help meet the demand for literary lovers heading to the renowned event.

V/Line regional manager Dallas Martin said V/Line would be running six special trains for visitors on both Saturday and Sunday.

“It’s the sixth year V/Line has offered the additional services to and from the event and we’re thrilled to once again be supporting it,” he said.

“There were more than 500 passenger trips on the special services last year so it’s always a popular option when visitors are planning their trip.”

Mr Martin said he expected big crowds again this year.

“The event attracts around 18,000 visitors a year and we hope many of them will consider leaving the car at home and taking the train,” he said.

Clunes Booktown Festival is on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. Tickets are $10 and are available from clunesbooktown.com.au.

V/Line’s normal weekend fares will apply and visitors travelling on the special trains need to purchase a V/Line paper ticket.

To book train travel and to see a schedule of additional services for the Booktown weekend, passengers should visit vline.com.au, call 1800 800 007 or visit their nearest staffed station or V/Line ticket agent.
