Lions hand Roos a 75-point loss

Newsteadʼs Joel Smith lays a strong tackle on Brady Davidson (Harcourt), bringing him to the ground on Saturday.

It was a one-sided encounter at Harcourt Recreation Reserve on Saturday when the Lions handed Newstead a 75-point defeat.

The Lions were unstoppable from the start as they opened up with 10 shots on goal in the opening term to kick 6.4, while holding Newstead to just one behind.

The second quarter was much of the same with Harcourt adding another three goals to its tally and limiting the Kangaroos to just one goal and two behinds.

At halftime the Lions led by 52 points and it wasn’t looking good for the visitors who were trying hard but could not match the pace of Harcourt out of the centre stoppages.

The second half was similar to the first as the Lions continued to dominate possession, bagging a further seven goals over the third and fourth quarters.
