Maryborough’s Sydney Viktorie Bayerle has proven she is both victorious by name and by nature, named the under 12 girls’ nett winner during the Rookie of the Year series.
Playing alongside 34 budding young golfers from around Victoria in Keysborough earlier this year, Sydney finished the nett competition at the Rookie of the Year series with a score of 31 off of a handicap of 15.
Now boasting quite a large medal for her efforts, the Czech-born nine- year-old said her golfing career started earlier than most and stems from her mother’s love of the sport.
“I started playing golf when my mum was pregnant with me, but I really started playing golf when I was four,” she said.
“Now I am part of the girls’ development squad in Ballarat and I don’t really mind how long they (trainings) take, I just love golf.”
Despite her young age, Sydney now has over three years of tournament experience under her belt after she won her first 18-hole competition at age six.
