Australia has suffered through its hottest summer on record and Maryborough was no exception, with the region experiencing multiple 40 degree days including a record break- ing 44.8° in January, the hottest day for that month in the Bureau of Meteorology’s history.
This summer was always going to be a hot one as 2018 was the hottest year on record for Maryborough since 2007, with both recording an average temperature of 21.8°.
The mercury tipped to 40° or higher on nine days during the summer months, seven of which were recorded in January.
Kicking off summer last year, December was one of the hottest since BOM records began, recording an average temperature of 29.5°, just shy of the previous high in December 2015 (30.9°).
